Since the Sheep and Wool Festival this past weekend, I've wanted to get out my drop spindle and try my hand at spinning again. I never really found any good instructions but in searching the web for them, not only did I find good instructions but I also found Chiengora Chic.
Chien is the french word for dog. As in J'embrasse mon chien sur la bouche!" ("I kiss my dog on the mouth"- come on.. you know you do it!). I had heard of people doing this, (spinning.. not kissing... although I've heard of kissing too!) and my critter's fur is way to short but boy I find this intriguing.. especially since this is something I could aspire to doing!
Now.. where to find some dog hair...
There is a lady in Tails of the Tundra Siberian Husky Rescue, she collects fur from her Huskies and her freinds’ Huskies, and she spins it into wool and knits scarves, gloves and hats out of it. She auctions them off online to raise money for Sibernet-L, a Husky charity. Pretty neat, huh?
that sound cool and fun……..if you run out of dog hair I think I can spare some LOL 🙂
