Dulcimer: 3 strings (sometimes 4)
Ukulele: 4 strings
Guitar: 6 strings
Something was missing. Although one should ask, if I am proficient in any of these instruments…
The answer to that would be no. .. no I am not.
But I really wanted a banjo… so what the heck.
I highly recommend Banjo Adventures if you wanted to learn clawhammer. Ben is straightforward and organized and an absolute delight to work with .. and there is a Discord channel to ask questions.
Look at what I’ve accomplished in just 3 weeks of his course:
Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about my dad. We are estranged (my choice) but I remember him playing just about any instrument he would pick up. And I remember being so impressed with everything he played and he would say “I’m not good. I’m just playing around” and honestly I hear those words come out of my mouth a lot.
Makes me think a bit honestly.
Anyway, this banjo was from Sweetwater and it’s the Goldtone AC-1 (that I keep wanting to call the A1C) and it’s relatively affordable and has really great intonation all the way up the neck. I also bought a mute because.. shared wall neighbor. It sits on the bridge and makes it less… banjo-twangy.
Right so I’m banging on this thing until my new Dulcimer arrives (yes I know.. I know.. just ONE more okay?)
Since I’m giving shoutouts, I want to also tell you about https://www.tuneupgrade.com/ which is a really cool free site to help you track your practice. I loved it so much I am donating $3.00 a month on Patreon.
I’ve put in almost 2 hours of practice on Old Joe Clark over 2 weeks. I still need to build a routine but I’ll get there.

That’s enough for now. I haven’t posted anything in ages here so I figured I’d drop a little update.
Now back to my class on audio mixing and Reaper as I have no idea what I’m doing there and YouTube keeps compressing my audio to where you can barely hear it so I’m trying to fix that (yes I know.. it’s me.. not them)
